My Every-Day Carry

← Back to Gabriel's Workshop

Pictured above is what can most often be found in my pockets at any given time.

From top left to bottom right

Field Notes

This is my favorite item in my EDC and has been a game changer after replacing my smartphone. I use a pocket notebook for my to-do list, grocery list, random ideas, stuff to google later, and doodles. Anything important gets noted in Obsidian the next time I am at my desk. This helps me be more mindful and focused compared to using my phone for notes.

I also love the Field Notes brand and I am planning to buy all their national parks editions. But eventually I might get into making my own pocket notebooks.

Sharpie S-Gel .07

Nothing special. But I'd say this is second only to the pilot G-2 .07 in terms of gel pens.

Modded Nintendo 3ds

Been playing Final Fantasy VI on the GBA emulator but I just got a bigger SD card so I will probably load Majora's Mask on there to play through that.

This is for when I find myself waiting around with nothing to do.

Camillus Knife

A good knife given to me by a good friend.

Sony MP3 Player

What I use to listen to music—mainly in the car. I still use Apple Music at my desk and use that time to discover new artists to add to my player.

Zyn

Technically not a part of my EDC right now because I'm taking a break from it to reset my tolerance but I'll probably be back on it in about a month.

AT&T Cingular Flex 2 Smart Flip

My beloved flip phone. It does great for calling, fine for texting, inconvenient at best for navigation, and hypothetically could even search the internet if I had the patience for it. This phone is what enables me to live my life without being controlled by my smartphone. Since making the switch, my days are fuller and my attention span is longer.

Wallet

This is where I keep my drivers license and debit card. There are other contents but they have not left the wallet in years and probably never will.
